Awolnation go behind-the-scenes of new covers & collaborations album – Music News

Diamond-selling alternative act AWOLNATION released their highly anticipated covers and collaborations album MY ECHO, MY SHADOW, MY COVERS AND ME via Better Noise Music on May 6. The 11-track record is a collection of masterfully crafted and carefully curated covers with the goal to illustrate the healing power of music and to celebrate the collaborative spirit of the artistic community. Each track features at least one acclaimed musical artist with whom AWOLNATION’s founder AARON BRUNO has a personal connection including Beck, Jewel, Portugal. The Man, Taylor Hanson of Hanson, Brandon Boyd of Incubus and more.

BRUNO recently sat down with TV/radio personality and music journalist Allison Hagendorf for a series of taped conversations on how each track came together and his experience working with each of the album’s collaborators. Watch an introductory clip on how BRUNO developed the album’s concept HERE.  The track-by-track series launches today, June 23, with a discussion surrounding the album’s first single, a cover of Midnight Oil’s “Beds Are Burning” featuring Tim McIlrath of Rise Against. AWOLNATION will continue to air conversations—in the order of the track listing (as seen below)—every Tuesday and Thursday via their official YouTube channel, subscribe HERE.

AWOLNATION Conversation Series: Track 1 – “Beds Are Burning ft. Tim McIlrath of Rise Against”

AWOLNATION released “Beds Are Burning (featuring Tim McIlrath of Rise Against)” on February 25 along with a CGI-animated video directed and edited by Jason Michael Hall (CG Assets). It has since received over 316k plays and 1.7 million Spotify streams. “Ever since I was much younger, I would sing along to this song,” shared BRUNO. “The singer may have the coolest dance moves in music video history. I think this song speaks for itself in terms of the message and meaning of the song. I was excited that Tim from Rise Against performed on this one in particular given the power and influence his lyrics and music have had for so many years.” Midnight Oil drummer Rob Hirst also commented on the track stating, “A tough new light on our old song! The whistle near the end is a deft touch…congrats AWOLNATION and Tim on doing a brilliant job!” Watch the music video for “Beds Are Burning (featuring Tim McIlrath of Rise Against)” here: https://youtu.be/gCwnoQFDCq8.
