Viola Davis plays 1920s blues singer Ma Rainey. The movie focuses on an infamous Chicago studio session, where she clashed with her white producers and recorded the titular song. Critics praised the film for its celebration of Black culture, music, and costume design.

4. Miss Americana

The 2020 documentary chronicles Taylor Swift’s tumultuous career from 2018 to 2019. Miss Americana delves deeply into the private life of Taylor Swift. Rotten Tomatoes has given the film a great score.

5. Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey

Christmas is just around the corner, and what better way to celebrate it than to watch Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey? The movie is about a toymaker’s family coming together for Christmas, but this is very much a movie for music lovers. John Legend co-wrote the soundtrack. 6. Shawn Mendes: In Wonder

Netflix’s Shawn Mendes: In Wonder offers you a look into the singer-songwriter’s career and everyday life. The film covers many aspects of his life, ranging from touring to his creative process, his relationship with Camilla Cabello, and even his depression and anxiety.

7. Les Misérables

Every musician should be familiar with Les Misérables, even if you’re not into musicals. The film features songs such as ”On My Own” and ”I Dreamed A Dream”. The 2012 film adaption stars Hugh Jackman and Anne Hathaway that won three Golden Globes and three Oscars.
